Weekend Wrap Up - St George Spectacular

What a dog of a weekend!

We hit the water Saturday morning with some minor engine issues but managed to sort them out quickly — or so we thought. Unfortunately, just one lap into the first race, we locked up the engine.

Back to shore we went, swapping in the backup engine to keep racing. But luck wasn’t on our side — we found a hairline crack in the gearbox. So out came the spare gearbox, and we were back at it again.

Sunday, we came in with a fresh mindset: finish strong and get the racing done. That didn’t last long… Cut off in the first race of the day, we ended up collecting a turn buoy for our troubles.

We patched the boat up and pushed on, managing to squeeze in a few more races before the day was out.

Then came the final race — neck and neck with SFR all the way to the final corner… and bang, another locked engine.

Despite the setbacks, it was an awesome weekend at St. George Power Boat Club. Massive thanks to the organisers and all the spectators — you guys brought the energy!

  • ST GEORGE SPECTACULAR, 19/20 JULY 2025

    Tough weekend for the Problem Child Race Team — two locked engines, one cracked gearbox, and a turn buoy to top it off 😅 Still, the atmosphere at St. George Power Boat Club was unreal. Bring on Windsor in 3 weeks! 🏁

  • TEST DAY, 15 JUNE 2025

    We had a fairly positive test on 15 June 2025. We made some large developments with the boat and its handling. We also broke a lot! Now time to swap the SST120 over to a 2.5L ready for the UHPBC Club Day in July.

  • TEST DAY, 1 JUNE 2025

    106.1mph. A new top speed for us on the test day of 1 June 2025. Our Mechanic, Doggy, worked his magic and gave us some more HP after cleaning out the carbys and making some further mods. Continuing to build!

  • UHPBC CLUB DAY, 3 MAY 2025

    We had a great day down at Windsor learning a lot about the boat and how to turn 180 degrees! We had some great races with our team mates, Speed Lab Race Team. Eyes forward to some more testing early June.

  • AFPGP, ROUND 5 2025

    Picked up the boat Thursday, and down we went on Friday to Yarrawonga for the final round of the AFPGP. Nothing like learning on the run … We had a good weekend! Melted a piston on our first run, come powerboating they said …
